If sleep mode is still engaging after disabling it in the GUI
Disable all power saving by creating the following files:
/home/orchid/.xsessionrc
/home/orchid_viewer/.xsessionrc
with contents:
#!/bin/sh
xset -display $DISPLAY s off -dpms
