Axis cameras can be configured to push recordings to ESM through FTP. The below steps outline creating the FTP events directly in the camera.
For information on how to configure a camera in ESM to use FTP recording, please read the Camera Recording via FTP article.
Note: FTP recording is not the recommended recording method and should only be used when the standard method of recording is not available (i.e. due to bandwidth constraints).
The steps listed below are for configuring Axis cameras with Action Rule type Event firmware:
Configuring Schedule
- Under Events | Schedules
- Click Add...
- Name: ESM_FTP_Schedule
- Type: Daily
- Start time: 00:01
- End time: 23:59
- Check all days (or custom is you desire)
- Click OK
Configuring Recipients
- Under Events | Recipients
- Click Add... (does not matter if there are other recipients listed)
- Name it ESM_FTP_Recipient
- Enter Network address using IP of the cameras archive server
- Leave upload path blank
- User name: MAC address of the camera in the format of 000000000000 (this also needs to be specified in the Mac address field in the camera settings on the ESM admin interface)
- Password: password used for the camera (needs to be same as the password assigned to authenticate in the camera settings on the ESM admin interface)
- Test the connection
- Click "Close"
Configuring Action Rules
- Under Events | Action Rules (If there is a "convert" button, you will need to convert the old action rules and delete them. Make sure these events are gone - sometimes I have found they do not get removed. A factory restore is needed to completely remove them.)
- Click Add...
- Under Schedule select ESM_FTP_Schedule
- Under Type select "Send Images"
- Stream profile - default - JPEG
- Specify Image frequency - set to fps as in ESM
- Duration: check "While the rule is active"
- Under Recipient select "ESM_FTP_Recipient" in drop-down menu
- Click OK
You may need to restart the ipConfigure Server Capture process for that individual camera (https://ipconfigure.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/201141269-Finding-entity-ID-for-specific-camera-and-restarting-the-capture-process-recording-service) or restart the ipConfigure Recording Control service to restart all camera server capture processes.
