The encryption type requested is not supported by the KDC

Issue:

Active Directory will not authenticate users and an error is logged containing the text: "The encryption type requested is not supported by the KDC."

Resolution:

Restarting the "Kerberos Key Distribution Center" service on the domain controller should resolve the issue.
