You can backup the ESM5_2_Central database (Management database) and restore it on the new server, then install ESM as an update over that database.
Before backing up the database, it's more efficient to un-link any archive servers currently linked. Then after the update to the new management server, re-link the locations.
You will need to update the ESM5_2_Central database to reflect the new ipAddress or DNS name of the new server:
1.In SQL Management Studio, connect to the database engine.
2. In the tree on the left, expand Database>>ESM5_2_Central>>Tables
3. Right-click on the table dbo.tblServer, select "Edit Top 200 Rows".
4. In the IPAddress field, change the ipAddress or DNS name leaving the /ESMWCF at the end. (Example of the format: "ipaddress"/ESMWCF)
If you restored the database before unlinking the existing archive servers, you will need to go to the archive databases and change the ipAddress there as well.
1.In SQL Management Studio, connect to the database engine.
2. In the tree on the left, expand Database>>ESM5_2>>Tables
3. Right-click on the table dbo.tServer, select "Edit Top 200 Rows".
4. In the CentralDnsName field, change the ipAddress or DNS name leaving the http:// at the beginning. (Example of the format: http://ipaddressOfManagementServer
Please note: You will manually need to move the maps (location you installed to>>ipconfigure >>Maps)
You will lose the ability to replay library items previously saved. However, you can retrieve the raw files from the library folder on the old server.
